I was a new patient,they rescheduled my first appointment to a different day I got the day wrong and came the day I thought it was so I was considered a no show and they now cannot see me,wow! NOT who I wanna spend my money with anyway!
#4 - They are not kid-friendly at all. They just recently put a little table in the waiting room with some books. But their equipment isn't even effective for treating babies. They can never get an accurate weight or height on my 1 yr old because the scale is too small and they lay her on a role-out ruler on the tilted bed to measure her. Not to mention their is absolutely nothing to do in the exam rooms for kids.
There are a host of problems with this practice.
These are just a few things that drive me and my family nuts. My husband is a student, so we have medicaid for the time being. But even those who have less income should be able to get good quality health care by our nation's standards.
I recommend LFM to my family & friends. It's hard to get in with Dr. K b/c she's so good, but unless it's an emergency, she is the only one I'll see. The other doctors are pretty good from what I've experienced, but I like Dr. K the best. =)
#1 - The wait times are ridiculous. I have waited there with 2 small children for more than 3 hrs between the waiting room and actually seeing the doctor. Once the doctor comes in they do an initial assessment. They then have to speak with an attending (an independently licensed doctor with authority to diagnose). Once the attending has popped in to say Hi you wait for the resident to come back. It is an all day affair.
#2 - They are very much about medicating and not finding underlying problems. "Treatment" always means meds to these guys.
#3 - They will turn you away if you are even slightly late. I came in once for an appointment and was 3 minutes late by their clock when I signed in, which is fast. It took the office staff about 20 minutes to get me checked in. The nurses then said that I was too late and would have to reschedule. I told them they were crazy and it was their fault I was checked in so late. I told them to check my sign-in time. They ended up seeing me. I got out of the office 3 hrs later.
The call center they use when closed..have the rudest people. And it's appalling they want you to beb15 minutes early yet you can sit in the waiting room up to an hour before going to the back..they are ridiculous and I had to tell them they couldn't check my daughter's private area anymore because she was getting older and it was getting uncomfortable for her and they look at me like I'm the pervert..also..they refused to take my son as a patient when I had him even tho my daughter had been there 5 yrs now I always have to go to two doctors when they're sick and for check ups.. they suck.. but Im sure they have a thousand new patient's from the past 6 yrs and that awful lurch at the window needs to be fired!
My daughter loves coming with me b/c she enjoys playing in the play area in the waiting room. I have a hard time getting her to come back with me, though, b/c she enjoys it so much! Ha!
I have been VERY happy with the care that I have received at Lynchburg Family Medicine! I see Dr. K & she is amazing! She listens, is knowledgeable and truly cares about her patients. When I had my 2nd child, I told her I didn't want to have the port in my hand (I do natural births) b/c it was the worst part for me & she was totally ok with that. I'm not one that wants to medicate everything & she understands that & has given me other options. In the 7 years I've gone there, I've only had 1 problem & it was with a different doctor when I brought my daughter in & he gave her more shots than I told them I wanted (I do delayed vaccinations, which I guess they're not used to). I now bring my kids somewhere else, but I love the care that *I* receive there, so continue to go for myself.
Have been patient for many years. Have been well pleased with care received.
