I came with a group of fellow officers to a training seminar being hosted by this academy. I have been to a lot of locations for training and have been to a lot of basic LEO training locations over the years. It is common for host agencies to provide coffee, parking passes, maps of local eateries, etc. We were told to move our vehicles several times... twice because the academy changed their minds. Coffee was not provided... and we were told the coffee we did buy was not allowed in the classrooms because the academy director cleans the carpets on the weekends!?!? No maps or other courtesy were offered. In fact, outside of giving us their rules... we didn't see an academy rep. As for the basic LEO training... I don't know how good it is... but I was not impressed by the recruits. As a recruit I was taught to get out of the way of LEOs with shields. This is a common "food chain" mentality taught to new soldiers, Marines and cops. It speaks volumes to your training program when 6 cops have to weave through a gaggle of trainees.
