LPA, get to know your patients. They' don't all fit medical statistical models or your new GOLD protocol. Ask them what has worked for them in the past. Listen to them. Explain the protocol to them and then let them decide if they're comfortable with it. People who live with chronic diseases know their bodies better than you do. Learn from them.

After being on LPA's 40mg short course, my 74 YO mother's prednisone was abruptly dropped from 40mg to 10mg over the course of 1 day. This was too quick to allow her adrenal glands time to produce cortisol. Prednisone tapering is normally performed in small amounts over a period of weeks because of the cortisol issue. The abrupt tapering threw my mother into a COPD flareup. Her breathing declined for 2 days until her caretakers finally overrode LPA's orders and increased her prednisone back to 30 mg. She is now congested, fatigued and expecting additional weeks of rehab to recover.

The Sleep Center has a very friendly staff, but the problem that I have is with the scheduling and appointments. They scheduled me for a Sleep Study and I had someone to drive me 1 hour and 10 minutes to Lynchburg for my appointment at Virginia Baptist, only for them to tell me that I had to reschedule! It was due to the lack of information of my current phone numbers, etc.that the Sleep Center had sent to them. Mind you that I had given the Sleep Center all of my current information. Virginia Baptist was able to reschedule me 3 days later. Following my Sleep Study I contacted the Sleep Center to reschedule my follow-up appointment at the Sleep Center because my Sleep Study had been rescheduled and I was told to come in at a certain date and time. Following that I received the automatic call verifying my appointment. I chose on the automatic call that I would be there at the appointed time. I drove 1 hour and 20 minutes only to be told that my appointment had been rescheduled that next week. No one bothered to let me know that. Of course they could not fit me in. I was Very, Very upset!! I also read another Review and someone else had this same problem with them. Don't know what the problem is with scheduling, but the Sleep Center need to fix this problem. Because of my experience, I would not recommend my family or friends to be seen by this office!!

LPA apparently uses the GOLD 2014 short-course prednisone tapering protocol indiscriminately, without identifying patients who fail on this protocol.

this office forgets who the customers are, without us there would be no them , very rude office workers that can"t think outside the box for solutions with c-pap suppliers

My mother suffered breathlessness for 2 full nights unnecessarily because of LPA's decision to taper her pred abruptly. She cried that God would take her because the breathlessness was agonizing. LPA ordered this short course prednisone protocol even though this same protocol had landed my mother in the hospital 2 weeks early. Apparently, no one at LPA bothered to review her hospital file.

I visited LPA Sleep Wellness Center today and found the entire visit with the girls at the front desk to be very pleasant the nurse that took me back too the examine room to be friendly and pleasant she took my vitals and we talked a liittle while and then she said Ms. Hughes would be in to see me shortly. Ms. Hughes came in and greeted me and we began to speak about my health , We talked about any changes in my health and she made a change on my cpap machine she is always very pleasant to talk to and very knowledgeable of her job until next time Thank You very much Wayne Mundy Nov 13 2017

Today I had my yearly review with Lee Hughes. I have a CPap and need to consult with the office for any updates or problems that I am having. From walking in the door, reception did an efficient and prompt job of checking me in and updating all of my information. The nursing staff that called me back and took my vitals, and updated clinical information and then my visit with Lee was exceptional. I can feel the compassion from Lee with her thorough questions and updated medical history, etc. You count ask for a better group of people to help you with your Pulmonary problems. I wish there were more offices with this level of care.
