This home is richly steeped in not just local but also state and national history. This was the home to Dr. Cabell who was Patrick Henry's personal physician. Stories and history involving this home abound, including possible decisive counter-intel during the Battle of Lynchburg. Two Union spies approached the lady of the house who informed them that General Early had been receiving reinforcements continuously for the last several days (this was in fact quite false). They then took this information back to their command. The battle Lynchburg is where the brave General Jubal Early was able to outmaneuver and defeat the terrorist marauder David Hunter. I found the tour guide to be extremely informative and knowledgeable.
If you love history and know more about where you live then go to Point of Honor. The staff is friendly and outgoing. My tour guide did a fantastic job at telling me all the details about Point of Honor. She also answered all my questions. They also have events here through the year.
Lot's of history here, we should have come earlier in the day to enjoy more of the event. Great staff giving the history. We'll need to visit again
Very good tourguide. One of top 5 restored historical places in Va.
Point of honor tells a lot of our city's history on that or was always a landmark. It hosts a lot of local events, has a great bookstore, and can host meetings and parties. The grounds and house are remarkably well preserved, and quite beautiful just to walk around.
